Products Description

We manufacture the widest range of electronic regulator solutions for vintage vehicles. Our dynamo regulators are designed to fit into the orginal cases to replace the old mechanical parts and provide significantly improved charging. They are the electronic version of the 3 bobbin mechanical regulators functionally but much more reliable. We make 32 different types in a range of positive and negative earth, 6 and 12 volts and 4 different current limits as well as both series and shunt field types.

Our Dynastart products are specifically designed for applications that use the BOSCH (or similar) dynastart units where the starter motor and generator are in one unit and share a common armature and starter and regulator field coils.

Our instrument regulator produces a steady 10 volts for the dashboard instruments to keep accuracy on moving coil units such as the fuel gauge which would otherwise mis read as the battery voltages change.Capable of supplying 1.5 amps with virtually zero heat dissipation

Suitable for engines that use a traditional contact breaker and coil spark ignition engine our rev limiter prevents over revving the engine. Designed to detect over rev within 4 cranshaft revolutions it uses a unique method of "spark stealing" giving a softer limit and less mechanical vibration than "spark cut off" method's and less bulk unburnt fuel into the exhaust

DVR3 N/P Series

Rugged, Reliable dynamo, instrument and Dynastart regulators.

Solid state electronics for mechanical regulator replacement

DVR4 N/P Series

The DVR3 series of products are electronic dynamo regulators with a range of output current limits. Suitable for classic cars and other vehicles(tractors, boats, trucks) that use a 2 brush dynamo with one side of the field connected to common earth (sometimes called a "shunt" field) connection.

Replacing both the 2 bobbin CVC units and the 3 bobbin current voltage regulators they are often used with lucas C39/C40 dynamos. The units are available in both 6 and 12 volt versions and with 4 different current limit settings, 8 Amps, 11 Amps, 15 Amps and 22 Amps. There are versions for both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE earth vehicles.

All versions include the Cut Out (to prevent battery discharging back through the dynamo), and accurate voltage and current regulation. They also include temperature compensation to prevent damage to the regulator when operating under hot conditions

Fully solid state with a rugged housing they are small enough to fit in most regulator cases

Instrument Regulators

Our instrument regulators are designed to replace all common types of the old bimetallic heater based unit with electronics BUT unlike other units ours is not a simple serial regulator which produces heat and can not cope with a low battery. Our unit produces the same pulse width modulated current waveform of the original units but at a higher frequency so no "ticks" are visible.

The unit provides up to 1.5 amps maximum current with virtually no heat dissipation and a constant output voltage over both battery and temperature variation. It comes in both positive and negative earth variants.

REV Limiters

Old engines need protection against over revving. Our solution makes use of the exiting coil and mechancial contact breaker. Traditional circuits use frequency to voltage convertors which can result in a long detection time for overrev and can give a "hard" limit. Our device takes just 4 cranshaft revolutions to detect an overrev and if detected applies a "soft" limit by stealing the spark intermittantly thus allowing only small amounts of unburnt fuel at a time into the exhaust and limiting the mechanical vibration that can occur if the spark is off for too long a period

The unit can be self set from 4000 to 6000 RPM for high speed engines or 3000 to 5000 PRM in 500 RPM increment for lower speed units. Using only 3 wires (+12 Ground and CB)it can be fitted in minutes by a competant owner and the limit set with a small screwdriver. DONT use with a catalytic convertor!!

Dynastart Regulators

Many people have sucessfully used the DVR4 series of standard regulators with Dynastarts, however certain Dynastarts (such as the pendulum units) can not use this solutions. Some Dynastarts have very bad cross coupling where the field control coils have induced EMF's from the start field coils that carry a high start current. This will damage standard units. Our solution is a regulator cut off device that prevents the dynastart armature and field being connected to the regulator until the engine is running. This ensures a soft start for the regulator as it only brings up the charge current once the unit is working as a generator.
